4-5 Grand Canal
To develop a suitable landscape solution for the scheme it is imperative to develop a full understanding of the site and the local area which has been developed with the architectural team in understanding the site and its context.
The proposal aims to transform the existing space into a vibrant, accessible, and inviting urban environment. The design seamlessly integrates with the current streetscape while introducing dynamic elements that enhance both functionality and aesthetics. The changes in levels have been treated as opportunities rather than challenges: a harmonious network of staircases and ramps will navigate the level changes, ensuring universal accessibility while creating intriguing spatial experiences. These transitional elements are thoughtfully combined with integrated seating and lush greenery, offering visitors inviting spaces to pause, interact, and enjoy the urban landscape.
The proposed public realm will create a fitting pedestal for the architecture, enhancing its presence in the urban context. All furniture and paving outside the ownership boundary will remain unaltered, ensuring a seamless transition between the proposal and existing elements of the streetscape.
