MAXIMISING THE POTENTIAL OF URBAN SPACES
The scheme looks to upgrade the established office use within the body of the existing tower and provide new opportunities for retail, cafes and restaurants at the terrace, plaza and sub-plaza levels. A new two-tier town square creates a impressive destination for city dwellers to enjoy on Dame Street. The public realm design creates a new urban square in this high profile city centre location, close to Ireland’s oldest university, Trinity College.
Originally designed by award-winning architect Sam Stephenson in the
1970s, the building was acquired by Hines and Peterson, following the
Central Bank’s relocation to the new premises on North Wall Quay.
The roof volume is re-imagined as a split-level hospitality space,
incorporating a 360° viewing terrace around the entire perimeter. The
adjacent Annex Building, reinforces the district as a food destination with
a vast restaurant offering.
